Volunteers are the heart and soul of LMV; indeed, we are an all-volunteer organization, save for our executive director. The organization consists of both an umbrella structure ("corporate") and chapters, which means that a number of members play dual roles as volunteers on LMV trips, and as key personnel in the administration of the organization.
At the corporate level, an eight-member board of directors, all LMV members, oversees and guides the organization's work. Four of those directors are the four chapter presidents, and four are officers; board elections are held annually. LMV's part-time executive director guides the organization on a day-to-day basis in the fulfillment of our strategic goals and objectives and helps ensure the four chapters work smoothly together. Other key posts are also filled by volunteers at the corporate level, including (among others) chief pilot, corporate trip coordinator, and chief medical officer, dentist, and optometrist.
At the chapter level, annually elected boards also guide the group's work, with significant support from other volunteers to edit monthly newsletters, coordinate trips, track membership, collect donated supplies, and so on.
Our membership is fairly diverse in most senses, but shares an intense desire to help others. Read more about us on our volunteer pages or contact us to learn more.
