Rather than reinvent the wheel and also risk double postings, we've decided to direct all of our "newsy" information to the LMV Facebook Page rather than on the LMV website itself. The procedure for posting such items is as follows:
One-time Preparation
- Become a fan of the LMV Facebook Page... click the "Like" icon on either flyingdocs.org (left menu area) or the LMV Facebook Page (top center)
- send a request to become an "admin" on the LMV Facebook Page
Posting a Short Status Update (you don't need to be an "admin" to do this)
- go to the LMV Facebook Page and login with your Facebook account
- on the Wall tab in the "Write something..." input area, simply type in a summary narrative (note, keep this to a few sentences)
- you can optionally:
- add here a Link (e.g. to a newspaper article about LMV)
- upload a Photo to be included with the narrative
- upload a Video related to the narrative
- Share
Add Photos to an Existing Photo Album
- login to your Facebook account
- go to the LMV Facebook Page...
- in the upper right, to the right of Home, pull down the down-arrow to "Use Facebook as Page"
- then click the "Switch" button to the right of Los Medicos Voladores
(you return to be 'yourself' via... pull down the down-arrow to "Switch back to 'your name'")
- click on Photos in the left menu area
- select the photo album to which you'd like to add photos
- click Add More Photos (upper right)
- Upload your photos, and add captions
Creating a Photo Album
- login to your Facebook account
- go to the LMV Facebook Page...
- in the upper right, to the right of Home, pull down the down-arrow to "Use Facebook as Page"
- then click the "Switch" button to the right of Los Medicos Voladores
(you return to be 'yourself' via... pull down the down-arrow to "Switch back to 'your name'")
- click on Photos in the left menu area
- click on the +Upload Photos button in the upper right
- upload and organize your new photo album
- you can add captions to each photo
- you can also add a full-length narrative (e.g. a trip story) to accompany the photos by adding this narrative as a "caption" to the entire album
- make certain that you Publish your photo album
Uploading a Video
- login to your Facebook account
- go to the LMV Facebook Page...
- in the upper right, to the right of Home, pull down the down-arrow to "Use Facebook as Page"
- then click the "Switch" button to the right of Los Medicos Voladores
(you return to be 'yourself' via... pull down the down-arrow to "Switch back to 'your name'")
- click on Videos in the left menu area
- click on the +Upload Video button in the upper right
Creating a Note (a several page narrative, plus optionally embedded photos)
- login to your Facebook account
- go to the LMV Facebook Page...
- in the upper right, to the right of Home, pull down the down-arrow to "Use Facebook as Page"
- then click the "Switch" button to the right of Los Medicos Voladores
(you return to be 'yourself' via... pull down the down-arrow to "Switch back to 'your name'")
- click on +Write a Note in the left menu area
- follow the instructions to add your narrative and photos to the Note
- make certain to Publish your note once completed
