In spring 2008 the Gold Country chapter of LMV began a program called Adopt A Pueblo, which seeks to unite community organizations with specific villages in Mexico. Organizations like Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs can decide to help fund part of the cost of sending personnel abroad to work in medical and dental clinics, allowing LMV to expand the number of missions undertaken and people helped. These organizations receive a certificate of appreciation from the village and a year-long membership to LMV, during which individuals from those groups can choose to participate more fully by attending chapter meetings and working at clinics.
