We need you to clean, measure and package donated eyeglasses for our next optometric mission. Dr. Steve Los has graciously agreed to have us use his garage as a manufacturing site. We will be using our new machine, which automatically measures the prescription of the eyeglasses and prints the prescription on a label. We only have a little over 1,000 eyeglasses to process, so we should finish by dinner time. 8:30 AM is the time, 4637 Hampton Falls Place, San Jose, CA 95316 is the place. On Saturday, December 16, around 40 people showed up at our South Bay warehouse in Brentwood to load trucks with donated medical equipment and supplies. We loaded two 18-wheeler trucks with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of donated equipment. We have now shipped over 30 truck loads of medical equipment and supplies to Mexico. ... more>

The 2006 Seminar was a great success, thanks to the efforts
of Art Schmauder who set it up and especially Maria de Los Angeles
and the Deborah Wayne Foundation who hosted it. Some 50 people
attended the affair, about evenly split between LMVrs and local
government and health/social representatives from all the villages we
serve in Baja Sur. La Paz was represented by at least one
congressman. I was particularly gratified by the enthusiastic
participation of the speakers who acknowledged our past
performance and shared their views on how we can better serve the

The Nevada County AirFest was held on Saturday, July 7th. It was a warm day that followed a hot spell which I thought might have contributed to a smaller crowd than last years event. Nevertheless, the war birds were great, the jets loud, and the CFD's demonstration was a crowd pleaser. Our booth was located in a semi-shady spot next to the ice cream man. How great is that?

We flew out of Bob Hecocks' hanger, and popped over to Auburn to pick up Lee Johnson, a second pilot, translator, and font of one-liners. Our trip was a medical mission to San Ignacio, B.C.S. We flew out of Lincoln on Wednesday
October 11 at 0700. We had 2 full days of clinic, seeing a total of 53 patients. Our pilot and
doctor was David Morgan. The co-pilot was Bob Schmidt. (from High Sierra chapter). The
