If you are stuck by a needle or other sharp or get blood or other potentially infectious materials in your eyes, nose, mouth, or on broken skin, immediately flood the exposed area with water and clean any wound with soap and water or a skin disinfectant if available. Report this immediately to your employer and seek immediate medical attention.

The CDC: Emergency Needlestick Information also provides immediat access to treatment procedures following blood exposures involving HIV, HBV and HCV:

Barbara Williams and Colleena McHugh have put together a Medical Assisting Class for Los Médicos Voladores members.  There is a lot of very useful information that can make a lay volunteer invaluable on a medical mission, directed by our own Dr. Morgan.  We have his notes on requirements for a top notch assistant.

The trainers hope to take this class around to all chapters.  So watch your chapter announcements for this class to learn this important position.
