Los Médicos Voladores (LMV) travels to areas with limited or no access to medical and dental care, providing treatments that result in significant and often life-changing outcomes for patients. Our medical mission teams offer medical and dental services, along with medicines, supplies, training, and education for local communities during our visits and beyond.
We understand that not everyone can join us in our clinics, but you can still make a meaningful impact by donating to LMV. Your contribution will help us bring more supplies and medications, in addition to ensuring ongoing support from nurses and local staff after we leave.
**Los Médicos Voladores is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your donation is 100% tax-deductible.**
We are currently focusing our fundraising efforts on the following areas:
* Nutritional packets for malnourished children in Southeast Haiti (Plumpy Nut)
* Eyeglasses
* Dental supplies
* Sunglasses
* Medications
We greatly appreciate any one-time donation you can make to one of our causes. If possible, please consider setting up a monthly donation to enable us to provide even more assistance during our clinics throughout the year. (You can cancel at any time—just contact us.)
MAKE A SPECIAL MEMORIAL OR HONORARIUM DONATION
A meaningful way to honor a special person in your life is by making a donation to help others, rather than purchasing another birthday, anniversary, or thank-you gift.
Every year, hundreds of children die from preventable diseases, even though effective prevention and treatment are available—if only they had access to the necessary funds.
Thank you for your generous contribution, which helps make our work possible!
Major Thomas H. “Tom” Palmer Raven, USAF (Ret.), passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, in Atascadero, California.
Tom’s life was devoted to aviation and service. In 1956, he entered the United States Air Force to become a pilot. During his distinguished 20-year Air Force career, Tom served multiple combat tours in Vietnam and Southeast Asia and was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. See the PBS Documentary highlighting Tom’s military service here >Tom Palmer & His Service as a Air Force Raven Fighter Pilot in the VietNam “Secret War”
After retiring from the military in 1975, Tom continued his work in aviation as a test pilot with TRW. He also remained deeply involved with the Lao Hmong Coalition of California in Sacramento. His relationships with, and respect for, the Hmong people he served alongside during the “Secret War” were especially meaningful to him. Tom often reflected that his time in Laos was the most meaningful experience of his life.
Tom was also a treasured friend and supporter of The Flying Doctors. He flew numerous missions with us and gave generously of his time, talent, and passion. His contributions made a lasting difference, and his impact will forever be part of our organization.
One of Tom’s greatest passions, beyond aviation, was supporting the LMV Angel Fund. Understanding the significant expense involved in flying medical missions, Tom created this fund to help offset fuel costs for our volunteers & pilots. He understood that without our pilots, LMV would be grounded—and our volunteers would be unable to reach the remote communities and clinics that depend on these services.
Honor Tom’s Legacy
Please consider donating to the Tom Palmer Memorial Angel Fund. Your gift will help provide fuel support for pilots who fly medical, dental, and vision missions to communities that are difficult to reach.
In honoring Tom’s legacy, you help keep his passion for aviation, service, and helping others in the air. Thank you.
